Telegram QR Code Generator
Scan the code and Telegram opens the public username you entered, so the reader can start a chat or follow the account from there. Only a public username works, because an account without one has no name for a link to point to.
What a Telegram QR code opens
A Telegram QR code holds a link on the Telegram domain with the username after the slash. When a camera reads it, the phone opens the link, and the Telegram app shows the public profile or chat for that name. The code carries only the name, so it cannot send a message or add the reader to anything by itself.
The editor takes the username and removes a leading at sign, so both spellings produce the same code. It does not add a message, because this code type has no text field, and it does not check that the name exists. A username that has been changed or removed still produces a code, but the link then opens nothing useful.
The code is static, so the username is printed as typed. Telegram users can change their usernames, and an old printed code then stops leading to the right account. The code cannot count scans and does not show who opened it.
How to make a Telegram QR code in three steps
-
01
Enter the username
Type the public username in the Username field. The editor removes a leading at sign, so either spelling works. Copy the name from the account settings when you can, so it matches exactly.
-
02
Check it against the account
Compare the name with the one shown in the Telegram app, letter by letter and digit by digit. The editor does not look the name up, so one wrong character produces a code that looks valid and opens the wrong account or nothing at all.
-
03
Test and download
Scan the preview with a phone that has Telegram installed and confirm that the right profile opens. Then download an SVG for print or a PNG for a screen, with an export size from 512 to 4096 pixels.
Where a Telegram QR code helps
-
Support accounts for a product
A box or a leaflet can carry a code that opens the support account, so a customer who prefers a messaging app can start there. Print the username as text beside the code as well.
-
Public channels for updates
A poster at a school, a club or a market can point to a public channel that shares updates. The code lands on the channel's username, and the reader decides whether to follow it.
-
Creators and artists
A creator can print a code on stickers, merchandise or a sketchbook, so fans open the public profile with one scan. Keep the username short and easy to read at the size of the print.
-
Bots that answer simple questions
A public bot can handle requests such as opening hours or a price list. A code on a counter opens the bot, and the visitor types the question there.
-
Community meetups
Organizers can print a code at the door that opens the public username of the group, so late arrivals find the event details. Pair it with the date in plain text, since the code itself says nothing about the event.
Tips for a Telegram code that lands on the right account
- Confirm the name is public
- Telegram accounts can be private, and a private account has no public name for a link to open. Check the username on a phone that is not signed in to your account before you print the code.
- Expect the username to change
- Users can change their usernames, and the old one then stops leading to the account. Keep a note of which account each code belongs to, so you can make a new code and reprint without losing track.
- Keep the username short
- A shorter name leaves more room on a small sticker and is easier to type by hand for anyone who cannot scan. If you control the account, choose a username that is short and easy to read at the printed size.
- Explain what the reader will find
- A scan that opens a profile may show a page the reader did not expect, especially the first time they use Telegram. Write a line beside the code that says what the account offers, so the reader knows why to follow it.
Telegram QR code questions
Does the reader need Telegram installed?
The link is designed for the Telegram app, so it opens there when the app is installed. Without the app, the reader may see a web page instead, so write the username beside the code as well.
Can I add a message to the link?
No. The Telegram code type takes only a username, and the link format in this generator has no message field, so the reader types the first message.
Does the code work for a private account?
No. It only makes sense for a public username, because the link has to point to a name that anyone can open.
Do I type the at sign?
Either way works. The editor removes a leading at sign, so the code holds the same username with or without the symbol.
Can I see how many people opened the account through the code?
Not with a static code, which carries only the name. Dynamic codes count scans on the Pro plan and above, and they can be pointed at a link of this kind, but a static Telegram code records nothing.
What if my username changes after I print?
The printed code keeps pointing to the old name, which then leads nowhere useful. Make a new code with the new username, reprint the sticker or poster, and keep the old file so you remember what it was.
Make your first code in a minute
The editor is free. Add an account when you want to save codes, track scans or change a destination later.
