How to choose the right type of QR code
A QR code is only a way to carry a short piece of text to a phone. What matters is what that text says, because the phone decides what to do with it. A web address opens the browser, a WiFi string offers to join a network, a vCard offers to add a contact. Each type below builds the text in the format phones expect, so you fill in plain fields and never write the syntax by hand.

Before you print
- Test with more than one phone
- Scan the final image from a screen and from paper with an iPhone and an Android phone. If one of them hesitates, increase the contrast or simplify the style.
- Leave the quiet zone
- The empty border around the code is part of it. Cropping it to save space is the most common reason a printed code fails.
- Size by distance
- A code scanned from a hand's length can be small. One on a wall or a window needs to be much larger, roughly one tenth of the distance to the viewer.
- Prefer SVG for print
- SVG stays sharp at any size. Use PNG for screens and documents where a fixed resolution is fine.

Is it free to make a QR code?

Do these QR codes expire?
A static code stores its content inside the image, so it keeps working as long as the content it points to exists. Nothing on our side can switch it off. Dynamic codes, which point to a short link, are a different kind and need a plan.
What is the difference between static and dynamic codes?
A static code holds the final content, so changing it means printing a new code. A dynamic code holds a short link that we redirect, so you can change the destination later and count scans. Dynamic codes require an account and a plan that includes them.
