Image QR Code Generator

An image code opens a picture or an album on the phone that scans it. Keep the photos where you already store them, copy the sharing link, and turn it into a code for a card, a gift, a print or a shop window.

What an image QR code opens

An image QR code stores the web address of a picture or an album. When a phone camera reads it, the phone opens that address and shows the photo in the browser or in the photo app that owns the link.

The picture never sits inside the code. A QR code holds at most a few thousand characters, while a single photo is millions of bytes, so the code always points to an image that is already published somewhere.

That makes the sharing setting the key step. A link that opens for anyone works for every person who scans; a private link only works for you. Test it once from a phone that is not signed in to your accounts.

How to make an image QR code in three steps

  1. 01

Share the photo or the album

Upload the picture or the album to your website, Google Photos, Drive, Dropbox or a gallery service. Turn on sharing for anyone with the link and copy that address.

  2. 02

Paste the link into the editor

Replace the starting address in the editor with the sharing link. Open it in a private window to confirm that the image appears without a sign-in prompt.

  3. 03

Design the code and print a sample

Choose colors and a shape that suit the card or the print, download a PNG or an SVG, and scan the printed sample from the distance a viewer will stand.

Where an image code fits

  • Weddings and photo sessions

A photographer prints a code on the thank-you card that opens the gallery of the shoot. The couple or the family shares the album link with relatives straight from the phone.

  • Exhibitions and art

A gallery or a museum can put a code next to a work that opens high resolution details, sketches or the back of the canvas. Visitors zoom in on their phone without crowding the frame.

  • Products and packaging

An online shop adds a code to the packaging that opens pictures of the product in use, or the color options it comes in. It shows more than the small photo on the box can.

  • Schools, clubs and teams

A school or a club prints a code in the newsletter that opens the photos of the latest trip or match. Parents see the pictures without receiving dozens of attachments by email.

  • Portfolios and before-and-after work

A builder or a designer can show a portfolio with a code on a business card or a site banner. Prospective clients scroll through finished projects in a few seconds.

Tips for an image code that works

Link an album for content that grows
An album link lets you add or remove photos later without touching the code. A link to one picture breaks if you delete or move that file, so prefer albums for anything that will change.
Share a version sized for phones
Phones on mobile data load a twenty megapixel photo slowly. Upload a resized copy around two thousand pixels wide for viewing, and keep the original file for printing.
Tell people what they will see
A wedding guest, a client or a customer may not know what the square leads to. A short line such as See all the photos from today next to the code invites the scan.
Think about how long it must last
Photo services sometimes change their sharing links or remove inactive albums. If the code will stay on display for years, host the gallery on your own site or use a dynamic code that you can redirect.

Image QR code questions

Do I upload the picture to Kuadro?

No. The code links to an image that is already online, on your website, in a Google Photos or Drive album, on Dropbox or on a photo service such as Flickr. Kuadro creates the code and keeps no copy of the picture.

Can the code open a whole album instead of one photo?

Yes. Share the whole album and paste the album link. The person who scans sees every photo in it, and you can add new pictures later without changing the code.

Can the picture be stored inside the QR code itself?

No, a QR code can only hold a small amount of data, far too little for a photo. It holds the address of the image, and the phone downloads the picture when the code is scanned.

Is it free to make an image QR code?

Static image codes are free to create, style and download, with no account. A dynamic code, which can switch to a different image after printing and counts scans, needs a Pro plan or higher.

Is this the same as putting my picture on the code?

That is a different feature. The editor can place your logo in the middle of the code or use a background image behind it. An image QR code is about what opens after the scan, not how the code looks.

Why do people see an error instead of my photo?

Most often the album is private or the link copied was the address of the editing page. Open the link in a signed-out browser window, and if it asks for a login, change the sharing setting of the album.
